Matilde Hernandez, 80, of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida passed away in her home on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Matilde was born on December 25, 1936 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to Jose Ortiz and Maria Vazquez.
She was married to the late, Hermenegildo “Gildo” Hernandez. She was a former resident of Allentown, PA but moved to Palm Coast, FL in 1985 where she lived until relocating to Lauderdale Lakes in 2010. Matilde worked as a CNA for much of her career. She is loved and missed by family and friends.
Matilde is predeceased by four brothers; two sisters; daughter: Hilda Padro, and one grandson. She is survived by daughter: Miguelina Aguilar, wife of the late Sigfredo Aguilar; son: Angel Cruz, Jr.; son-in-law, Rogelio Padro; and Carmen Iris Aguila. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Melissa Aguilar, Melinda Aguilar-Stezenko wife of James Stezenko, Ivette Padro, Tanya Padro, Katrina Cruz, Rachel Cruz, Thalia Cruz, Gabrielle Cruz and Brandon Cruz. She has eight great-grandchildren: Adam, Anthony, Alex, Ahnia, Anatya, Elena, Dacian, Angel with Baby Girl Schwarcz on the way.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 4:00 PM (for the family); 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for friends and public at Baird-Case Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 4701 North State Road 7, Tamarac, FL 33319.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, 3033 NW 33rd Avenue, Lauderdale, Lakes, FL 33311 on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00am.
Burial immediately following at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.
