Ilene McDonald-Simpson

Ilene Amis McDonald-Simpson also known as “Annie” was born in a district named Strawberry located in Westmoreland, Jamaica, on November 30, 1951 to Christiana and Richard McDonald. The family moved to Kingston when she was young. In Kingston Ilene attended St. Peter Clavier Preparatory School and after Penwood High School.

Ilene migrated from Jamaica to Paterson, New Jersey in 1970. She later continued her education upon her arrival to the United States. Ilene received her “Practical Nursing” diploma from Passaic County Technical and Vocational School in 1978. Ilene furthered her career by achieving her “Registered Nurse” Certificate from the New Jersey Board of Nursing in 1987. She worked as a nurse at Wayne General Hospital located in Wayne, New Jersey until 1990. During her years as a citizen of Paterson, New Jersey she met her husband, Kenneth Simpson of 26 years. Ilene and Kenneth decided to relocate to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1990 making it their permanent residence. In 1990 Ilene became employed as a Registered Nurse at Florida Medical Center. In December of 1990 Ilene and Kenneth tied the knot in marriage. In 1991 Ilene and Kenneth gave birth to her only son, Richard Simpson.

Ilene loved to travel to places like Israel, Europe and other States. She enjoyed reading and studying literature and taking care of her son, Richard whom she loved dearly and considered her best friend. Ilene was very quiet and reserved. She was always passionate about life and people matched only by her generosity.

Due to her chronic illness her nursing career came to a halt. After a protracted battle with cancer, Ilene was called into the pearly gates of Heaven on June 9, 2017. She is pre deceased by her parents Christiana and Richard McDonald. Ilene is survived by her loving husband Kenneth Simpson, son Richard Anthony Simpson, Grandson Maasai Simpson, 6 siblings, Melrose, Walton, Sherwood, Deanah, Audley, and Hugh McDonald, along with her 9 nieces and 5 nephews. All are left behind to mourn the beautiful life of our most precious loved one. The bond between this angel and the ones in which she loved and who loved her will never be damaged or broken.
